A man in Pennsylvania didn’t just use the old “my mom died” excuse to get out of work — he went the extra mile by having an obituary for his very-much-alive mother published in a local paper.
Randy Bartley, editor of Brookville’s Jeffersonian Democrat, said relatives called the paper to inform him that the Scott Bennett’s mom had been greatly exaggerated.
Bennett, 45, was reportedly attempting to score some paid bereavement time off from his place of employment.
He was charged with disorderly conduct, and will likely be sentenced to a lifetime of the most awkward family reunions ever.
